چکیده

D-term inflation is one of the most interesting and versatile models of inflation. It is possible to implement naturally D-term inflation within high energy physics, as for example SUSY GUTs, SUGRA, or string theories. D-term inflation avoids the η-problem, while in its standard form it always ends with the formation of cosmic strings. Given the recent three-year WMAP data on the cosmic microwave background temperature anisotropies, we examine whether D-term inflation can be successfully implemented in non-minimal supergravity theories. We show that for all our choices of Kähler potential, there exists a parameter space for which the predictions of D-term inflation are in agreement with the measurements. The cosmic string contribution on the measured temperature anisotropies is always dominant, unless the superpotential coupling constant is fine tuned; a result already obtained for D-term inflation within minimal supergravity. In conclusion, cosmic strings and their rôle in the angular power spectrum cannot be easily hidden by just considering a non-flat Kähler geometry. D-term inflation in non-minimal supergravity 2

Two-Stage Inflation in Supergravity

We investigate the viability of a two-stage inflationary scenario in the context of supergravity, so as to resolve the problem of initial conditions for hybrid inflation. We allow for non-renormalizable terms in the superpotential and consider the most general form of the Kähler potential and the gauge kinetic function. We construct a model with two stages of inflation, the first driven by D-te...

D-term Inflation: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Prologo. It is by now commonly accepted that inflation looks more natural in supersymmetric theories rather in non-supersymmetric ones. This is because the necessity of introducing very small parameters to ensure the extreme flatness of the inflaton potential seems very unnatural and fine-tuned in most non-supersymmetric theories, while this naturalness is achieved in supersymmetric models. The...

Supergravity Modification of D-term Hybrid Inflation: Solving the Cosmic String and Spectral Index Problems via a Right-Handed Sneutrino

Supergravity corrections due to the energy density of a right-handed sneutrino can generate a negative mass squared for the inflaton, flattening the inflaton potential and reducing the spectral index and inflaton energy density. For the case of D-term hybrid inflation, we show that the spectral index can be lowered from the conventional value n = 0.98 to a value within the range allowed by the ...

D - Term Inflation

We show that inflation which is dominated by the D-term density avoids the 'slow-roll' problem of inflation in supergravity. Such an inflationary scenario can naturally emerge in theories with non-anomalous or anomalous U(1) gauge symmetry. In the latter case the scale of inflation is fixed by the Green–Schwarz mechanism of anomaly cancellation. The crucial point is that the (super)gravity-medi...

P-term Potentials from 4-D Supergravity

P-term inflation arises in some models of brane inflation. Within N=2 supersymmetry the scalar potential contains a vector of Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) terms ξi. Depending on the direction of this vector it is possible to get D-term and Fterm inflation or a mix of these models. In this paper we review the problems of embedding the P-term model in supergravity and show how these can be solved by con...
